Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal for international students is now open. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. They will also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will also comment on proficiency in their chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be evaluated. English language skills will also be reviewed.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program scores are also considered.
International examination scores are also relevant. Applicants may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee. The committee will represent the relevant academic discipline.
Proficiency in English must be proven. This can be done through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also accepted.
