IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are evaluated. English speaking and writing skills are also assessed.
Academic Qualifications
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require specific test scores. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) scores. University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and DST INSPIRE scores are also considered.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
