IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide details of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Admission Process Details
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Mechanism
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
