IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year . The application portal is available online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from tests such as:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess their qualifications and suitability for the program.
