IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Applicants are required to submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition, candidates may need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
