Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
International candidates can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi website at international.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Both PhD and PG programs are open to these applicants.
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. Two referees who can supply recommendation letters are also required.
The notification states referees will assess candidates’ overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English speaking and writing skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may include scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
