IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are due by March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Admission Requirements

Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also considered.

Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation. The interview panel will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
