IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM IST . Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility for International Applicants

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration of English language skills.

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential. They will also assess written and oral English proficiency.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International standardized test scores are also considered. This includes the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Acceptable tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty members from the relevant discipline.
