IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026, for the 2026-27 academic year. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Required Examinations
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national and international examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
