IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic years 2026-27.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.

Eligibility may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

Scores from international exams are also accepted:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proof of English language proficiency from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also required.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
