IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must declare their English language proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Application Requirements
Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English proficiency. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
Scores from international examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The institute aims to assess candidates holistically through these interviews.
