IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Required Documentation
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE or GMAT.
Scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview applicants with strong academic records. The interview assesses overall suitability for the program.
