The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be required.
English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are also necessary.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
