The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
The application portal for foreign nationals will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Both PhD and PG courses are available.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International standardized test scores are also accepted:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
