IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year.

The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates must apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. This includes Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.

Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
