Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 .

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation.
Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Eligibility Criteria and Selection
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also required.
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
