IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This committee comprises faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
