IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from national-level tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) , University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) , or DST INSPIRE .

International examination scores are also considered. Candidates may submit results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) .

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through recognized tests. Accepted scores include those from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination .

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview will evaluate their suitability for the program.
