IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. This information will be requested directly from the referees by the institute.

Eligibility and Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores may also be considered, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess candidates for their suitability for research and academic rigor.
