IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window for the 2026-27 academic year opened on its official international admissions portal. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through a self-declaration. The application requires the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters.

These referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and oral and written English skills, according to the official notification.

Required Test Scores

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International standardized tests are also accepted. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with a strong academic record will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
