IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. International students can apply until March 30, 2026 . The application window closes at 4 p.m.

Interested candidates should submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The academic session for these admissions is 2026-27 .

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must also declare their English language proficiency.

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. These may include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
