IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application window for foreign nationals closes on March 30, 2026 .

Students can apply for the academic year 2026-27 through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. All eligible candidates must declare their English language proficiency.

Applicants must provide the names of two referees who can submit letters of recommendation. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities, according to the official notification.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
