IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission to PhD and PG programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
