IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply through the institute’s official international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

The admission portal will remain open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They will also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Academic and Test Scores

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, scores from English language proficiency tests are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
