IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Required Test Scores
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The interview committee assesses the candidate’s overall suitability for the program.
