IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on the application deadline.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. The notification states referees will assess candidate aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Admission may require scores from specific examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). For PhD, DST INSPIRE scores are also relevant.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
