IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Process
Interested candidates must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. Scores from international tests such as GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Selection Criteria
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
