IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal will remain open until March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Eligible candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration and the submission of recommendation letters from two referees.

Admission Process

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

The final admission decision will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
