IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.
Interested applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The official notification states referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also considered.
Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
