IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Deadline March 30

IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency must also be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include:

  • TOEFL
  • IELTS
  • TOEIC
  • OPI
  • OPIC
  • Cambridge English Examination
  • Other recognized language tests

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
