IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Details
International students are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses. This includes candidates holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They must also submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. Recommendations will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Specific academic and entrance exam scores may be required. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores for PhD and PG programs. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates will need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
