IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Entrance Exams
While not always mandatory, scores from national entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE may be required for PhD and PG programs. International standardized tests such as GRE and GMAT can also fulfill admission requirements.
Proof of English language proficiency is necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination . Applicants can also submit scores from other recognized language tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
