IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to official notifications.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to the PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
