IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, located at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application portal is open for foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The window for applications closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Applicants must submit a self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two individuals who can offer recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Candidates are also required to submit scores from these tests.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview panel will assess candidates’ suitability for the program.
