IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply online. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

The institute will accept applications until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will supply recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ overall aptitude, research potential, and independent thinking abilities.
