IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Process Overview
The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026 . Candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees.
These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is based on official IIT Delhi notifications.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records receive invitations for interviews. These interviews are conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
