Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. The application also requires the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will be assessed on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Scores
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national eligibility tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered.
English language proficiency must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi requires a strong academic record for admission. Candidates will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline based on their academic performance.
