IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students should visit international.iitd.ac.in to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to list two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, and research potential. English communication skills will also be evaluated.

Application Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be necessary. Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. An interview panel of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interviews. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
