IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Admission Process
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal is open on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme is also considered.
International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required. Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. These include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
