IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Interested foreign nationals can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency.
Candidates are required to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their comments will focus on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Academic Qualifications and Tests
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from specific standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exams, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive invitations for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
