Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year.
Candidates must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Admission Process and Requirements
IIT Delhi will consider applicants based on several factors. This includes scores from standardized tests. For PhD and PG programs, relevant scores may include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
Final admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. An interview committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
