Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are accepted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Process Overview
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen discipline.
English Proficiency Requirements
In addition to the statement of proficiency, applicants may need to submit scores from recognized English language tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
