Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates are also required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs for international students will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
