Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27 on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
The application portal for international candidates will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Examination Scores
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee. Proficiency in English will be assessed through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
