IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. Two referees must be named to provide recommendation letters.
Application Requirements
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proof of English language proficiency is also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
