IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Admissions are for the 2026-27 academic year.
Application Process
Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
