IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. All applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Admission Process
Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Some applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International tests like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
Selection
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by faculty committees from the relevant disciplines. Applicants may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
