The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window for foreign nationals closes on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . This intake is for the academic years 2026-27.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency and provide contact details for two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The admission process also considers scores from standardized tests.
Required Test Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program for PhD and PG admissions.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.
English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations are required. Candidates must submit their scores for these tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel of faculty members from their chosen discipline.
