Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested candidates can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. The application must also include the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Entrance Exams
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for PhD and PG program eligibility. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT.
Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
