The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Application Details
International students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. They will need to provide a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Recommendations and Scores
Applicants must name two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Submission of scores from standardized tests is required for consideration. This includes Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admission. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Performance in the interview is a key factor for admission.
Proof of English language proficiency is also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be considered.
